You would get the same response from our club. "It is a sailing club" which by the way things are going is another myth

In that case I feel sorry for you, I would find another club if mine were that silly.

We have members with MoBos, yachts, rowing boats & no boat too. I don't understand why people feel a need to discriminate that way.

Certainly disagree - I have been a member for 50 years & like it the way it is. There is a motorboat club 200 yds along the shore & they are happy to send sailors to us whilst we send MOBOS to them. Their particular disipline is skiing & mobo racing. Ours is sailboat racing. The needs of the 2 are different & people tend to mix better with those of similar interests. It is just a simple fact

'Take for granted what locals say and follow their advice"

Last year arriving at night at a non-familiar small fishing port in the Gulf of Volos in the Aegean I was ill adviced by a local fisherman that I should move my boat to a better dock place pointed by him. When I checked with my lead line the depth of the indicated place claimed by him to be 3 meters it happened to be 2 meters (my draft is 1,85 and the there was a choppy swell). I reckon the fisherman adviced me so because my current docking place opposithe the tip of a small concrete pier was his favourite place for fishing. I had similar experience in another small port in the Chalkidiki peninsular.

QED, Don't trust the Greeks !

It's not very appropriate for me to do it (they are my neighbours) but since you said it I will quote Laocoon"s famous phase "Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes". However,my previous post refers to locals in any country, not just Greece. It happens especially on the Balkans, where people trying to be too much helpful, can actually be the opposite.

Odd to me that both "interests" cannot be served, so it goes, if you are happy to be segregated & miss out on all the joy that variety & difference can bring, so be it.

"some of my best friends are Moboer's" :encouragement:
