If they gave all their content away in the digital format

- distribution costs next to nothing

would this make you more likely to pick up a copy of the magazine at a station or ask for a subscription?

would you turn your ad blocker software off so that they could earn some money from the digits?

No it wouldn't, personally I prefer digital media.

They way of the future is that content will be read more and more digitally. Kindle's and ipads are just the start. Proper e-paper has already been invented and its just a matter of time. That will convert many who do not want a special device.

So, making it free is not the route.

The advertising model is inevitable. In the future I think the reverse will happen. We will pay to turn off the ads.

That was awful, I thought this stuff was just fiction, loaded with adverts, the fact that it's real ...... Would anyone actually take it seriously and be influenced by it? Horse Manure is too tame by far. It's the antithesis of everything that I believe leisure sailing stands for.

If you are a PRINT subscriber you will get the ipad (app) foc. NOT the other way round!
