I noticed a post earlier today from one of our erstwhile journalists who was looking for some old bit of plastic to test out on the East Coast.
Now I think the problem we have is that they are getting a little too far into their comfort zone and in so doing are not really giving us a balanced perspective.
Whilst our ageing biker does his boat reviews in a variety of weathers - the background pictures would suggest that this all takes place around Southampton Water and the same can be said for the powder-monkey turned minstrel boy in that some mention of a swatchway can be found in most of his utterings. If the redoubtable YM is to become wholly customer focussed then perhaps we could also suggest which boats we'd like to see tested
So - I propose that they are compelled to undertake their various jollies in unfamiliar and challenging waters to add a tad of spice to these reports. Perhaps falorumites could suggest suitable venues and boats we'd like to see tested - might I commence with a request for a boat test on an engineless Balaton in the Corryvreckan?

Super idea .. and also may I suggest a good idea to put it through some proper testing in the hands of idiots such as myself rather in the careful hands of a semi-pro!

Rock-on!

Good idea Claymore!

May I suggest forumites with interesting boats in interesting places email me so I can put them on record.

For this to work both the boat and the place must be interesting. The place should also be reasonably accessible to geographically challenged journo/photo crew - ie nothing north of Watford. We do east, west and south quite well. Suitably malty bribes might help, of course.

Re: Rock-on!

You're welcome to take mine somewhere interesting, it's more than I've had time to do this summer.

We often have only Swale & Swatchway, but not much more than the East Coast - I'd be interested to see an article about sailing on the Southern Broads through Lowestoft or G Yarmouth...
