My yanmar 2gm just did it on my sailboat. The only way it stopped was block the intake with a rag wrapped around my fist. Now i'm trying to determine why it happened. I've removed the injectors to do a compression check which showed over 300 which should be good pressure. One nozzle was completely burnt out, the other ok. Someone mentioned if any water in fuel it would blow out the nozzle as water doesn't compress. He also said it's more than likely i could have blown a hole in my piston. hope not as i'm broke on a fixed income. Was also told engine was either running from over fuel load due to injector problem or running from engine oil due to rings or some other oil input problem. If anyone has had similar problems and can assist me please get back to me.
