I'm under orders to have TV on the boat. Can anyone recommend a suitable discreet aerial for a yacht. I'd quite like it to be removable for sailing, and like the look of this:

Do I need a signal Amplifier as well? I've had poor experiences with boat tv aerials in the past, so would like to get a user recommendation. The boat is in Port Solent.

Your local transmitter is on the Isle of Wight and called Rowbridge, just point one of these at and away you go. We adapted a bracket to attach ours to the spinnaker track on the front of the mast, but in most locations around the Solent it works below deck just as well, cost £5 from e bay. Taken down and put away for sailing it only takes a minute to rig.

What you don't need is a poor aerial and then a booster to make up for it, oh and a £100 price tag from your local chandler plus more wiring to power the booster. Some back ground reading:

After a bit of research and the same question a couple of months back, I've bought a Glomex Avior VT300 but have still to install it. Advantage of this one is that it also receives FM so I can remove the splitter from the VHF. The arielsandtv site is ver good and I've bought good quality Webro WF100 copper shielded cable however his views on the compact ariels designed for boats have limited value for sea going boats. His advice is good for canal boats where a proper element ariel can be used.

Best thing is to look at the ones in use around you as that will give an indication of what works in your area.

All I need to do is find a good quality 12v TV around the 19-22" mark. Any suggestions?
