Read a local newspaper - there was a report that at 10:30 Thursday a 22foot yacht was 'mown down' by a cargo vessal in the Solent. The 45 year old skipper jumped clear .....

anyone else heard this story ??

66,000 tonne cargo ship only 200' long, it would need to have a draft too deep for the Solent or be wider than its length to have that dispalcement!

The yacht was a Bembridge Redwing that he'd just finished restoring. He was sailing but didn't have enough wind. Great shame, but he's hoping to raise it and start again. I thought the Soton patrol boats scouted ahead as these big vessels come through?
