Yacht shrouds / Halyards that clank against the mast all night

could be worse, like when the 65 year old skipper took a leak at 3 am over the side of the boat.... i thought it was never going to stop /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

What, he pee'd all over your side decks? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I usually frap my halyards, mainly cos mine do echo very badly through the boat as well being "Kind" to both halyards and mast.

But I have been known to forget.

Would I mind if someone came on board and did the job for me? Depends really, if they were stomping around on my cabin top in hob nail boots "making a point" whilst I was down below I probably would react "accordingly".

However if they did the job in a reasonable manner then I would not mind, in the morning I would probably thank them by saying something like I was lying awake knowing I had forgetten again! and would HAVE to get out of bed, but you beat me to it! Sorry and Thanks!

I actually have a half dozen spare bungee cords on board, and I do not hesitate to use them on offending boats. I tie a piece of white rag on them so I dont lose them. I may have some tags made up with :
THIS BUNGEE IS THE PROPERTY OF FULL CIRCLE YOU NOISY PERSON(S)

or summat like that. Perhaps thats why we dont keep our boat in the marina. (Nah, we are just too tight really!)

Without any hesitation I'd frap the halyards to the shrouds preferably with the offender's mooring line

Thanks for the advice, I'll go with this option, it hadn't occurred to me to cast him off, I suppose you have to make sure the current will take the boat out of the marina with out hitting you though /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I best go with the bailer twine, nice one /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sometimes it's the VHF antenna coax inside the mast tapping as the boat rocks. Not a lot you can do about that... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
