I'm looking for a good rigger between here (Cartagena), Alicante (next stop) and the Balearics- ideally one who can look at my furling system on my in mast furling mainsail (Kemp/selden mast), Any recommendations? "Yacht riggers Mallorca" come up on a search on the Selden site.

Apologies in advance for double posting- going to put this also on the PBO forum in case some local knowledge is forthcoming

Ta!

If you find one...................PLEASE let me know.

We are in San Pedro, there is a Spanish guy, but he is not very reliable, well he was with us, didn’t turn up for about 2 weeks, then only did 1/2 the job........................so, not sure if I could recommend him.

So please, if you find someone, pass, drop me a line.

Good luck.

Joe.

Damian in the Regattas Yacht club (hes the manager, miserable b*stard most of the time but actually quite obliging underneath) in Cartagena will probably know someone. That is if he's still there.

If you are heading North try Tack Vela in Port Vell Barcelona. I bought a new main at a very reasonable price a couple of years back.
They also helped me fix a rigging problem ( swaging some t terminals) at very reasonable cost and were helpful and knowledgable.

Yacht rigger Palma

Rigging Mar SL in Palma re rigged our HR 42 about 3 years ago and were brilliant. We found them on recommendation from another HR owner in Palma. They are a Spanish outfit who speak excellent English and are sailors themselves. They are based about 2 blocks back from Club Nautico on Calle de Cerda website www.rigginmar.com. They were cheaper than The Rigging Shop.

Not Cartagena but only a couple of hours drive away in Almerimar is Eric who is a South African liveaboard with a lot of sailing under his belt as well as earning a living being a very competent rigger that you can trust.

He re rigged my boat and I have been very satisfied with the advice and the outcome.

If you are interested PM me for his contact details. :)

I now use A+ riggers for my yacht based in Palma. They sorted out my (electric) in-mast furling. Have done annual rigging check without rip off recommendations. Man who looks after my yacht now uses them for the rest of his charter fleet having tried other riggers previously
No hesitation in recommending

Yacht Rigger Mallorca

I've been using Inoxeria Yacht Riggers and have found them to be really good. They completely re-rigged my friend's boat, Susanne - replaced all the standing rigging and renovated the deck, too.

They're based in Alcudia, but work in Palma and all over Majorca.

Not riggers but I had a fair amount of sail and canvas work done by Hood Espana in San Javier.

They were helpful and efficient.

I would imagine they would be able to advise good riggers.

Carol,

in Cartagena - go and find a 45' Legend called "Aqua Therapy" and have a chat with Glenys (I think she is still on board as she sent us pictures of the arrival of Queen Elizabeth a couple of days ago). They have recently had sails refitted, cockpit enclosure, etc. so would be a good source of local advice. Say hello from me to "Beaky" and tell him I will be sending his Palm oil very soon, but be careful as he can bite!

Good rigger in Majorca is Rafa at Sociedad Nautico Integrado (SNI) located in Club Nautico Santa Ponsa. Heard good reports on the "Rigging Shop" too... based in Palma IIRC

SNI were fast and well priced. They will do more work for me in future.
