We all know that changing a ships name is bad luck but I believe there is a way around this by having a renaming ceremony and a blessing. Does anyone know of the actual form this should take?

By the way, I understand that the basis of the bad luck to re-name a ship was that in the days of great sailing ships the name was carved deeply into the main beam of the the vessel. Too many name changes meant lots of carving and so weakened that beam sufficiently to cause disaster.
...Knowing how structuraly important modern pywood bulkheads are you might do well to heed this!

Spot on Paul, so dont cut too much out of the wood (or the plastic) or you may sink. Otherwise rename as you wish.

I have used the 'www.boatsafe' ceremony and have to date suffered no sinkings, groundings or other, so that must prove it's effective!
