Hello.

Planing on buying a Yacht in South France with French Flag. Yet want to register in the UK.

Any Info or suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks

If you are buying thro a french broker they should be able to do it all for you. Bought our current boat in France. You need to get proof of VAT status or you could be stung for 17.5% back here - Ok if its new; more diffcult if its second-hand. Also you have to de-register in France I think the form is a "demande de radition" or something like that -cant access mine its on the boat & I'm not. Once back I simply registered it SSR. All went well for us; vendor delivered boat for us; french bank held onto our loot for a week despite it being cleared funds so no difference there; my French improved a bit & we got a great boat at a great price (20% less than UK bokers price but dont think you can do that well now....)

Good luck!!

Thanks for the info, Any idea on what it would cost to register a 10 meter boat ? in the Uk or where i could get some info of registering a boat in the uk.

http://www.mcga.gov.uk/ is the link you need - all the info on Small Ships Register - costs around £30 if I remember rightly but its all there on the site...

There are some limitations - You must be a British Resident - ordinarily resident in the UK... then a few minor limitations but that's the main one...

Fill in the form on line - use your credit card the paint/stick your ssb number on the boat once the certificate arrives and you are done. The French vendor is responsible for cancelling his French registration and will do so as otherwise he - not you - will be billed for the French Boat tax.. All simple - Provided you have a UK address..
