Advise please folks

We were lifted out on Friday and placed into our four leg cradle. The boatyard weren’t happy and have asked for additional supports mid ships due to the beam and length of the boat.

We have scoured the yard for ideas and are currently being loaned a paid of Tennamast prop supports which are splendid but need to be replaced by our own intermediate supports by 10th October 2018.

Apart from the usual sources, does anyone know of any that maybe available for purchased ? We have put a wanted add in the YBW forum already but this is just an additional plea for help.

I use two acrow props with the heads cut off and then bolted through so they swivel (a small piece of fabrication) with ply pads midships. They are tied into the cradle and give a bit of additional peace of mind.

I have thought about getting a frame made to turn them into stands but have never got round to it.

There are some yacht legs for sale on Yachts and Yachty Bits on Facebook at the moment.

Yellow Ballard’s suggestion of Acrow’s seems a good suggestion, they are readily available on the internet, not overly expensive and as tough as old boots. The early Yacht Leg Cradles use modified Acrows and I never had any problems in the twenty years I had the cradle, although I did replace the Acrow’s once because the salt water just corroded them after about 12 seasons.

The Largs marina staff thought my 4 leg cradle was a bit light considering the winds they get there and so used to add in extra timber supports. I decided to add in extra supports.

I bought a set of Transportable Cradle Mid Arm Assemblies from

https://www.yachtlegs.co.uk/index.pl?pageid=7&page=yachtcradles_transportable&langx=eng

To make the cradle longer I purchased some galvanised square section from

https://www.themetalstore.co.uk/collection

and with just a little bit of fiddling the extra legs clamps on to the new longer spine section.
