Merry Christmas everyone.

I am interested in a yacht based in Malta and I know there are some liveaboards out that way. Is anyone there, that could give me better information rather than the office selling her?

thanks anyway

Is it the Bav 42?
Don’t bother. I’ve been calling and mailing the broker for a week. They never call back.
Not sure what the story is...
And I’m here in Malta!

Thanks Vic, I won’t mention the broker here.
In the meantime I agreed on the purchase price of another boat. Now waiting for the survey.
And today the broker emailed me, asking if I was still interested. Too late for him.

I have to say my dealing with brokers aren't that great , before we purchase the boat we have now we sailed hundreds of miles all over Europe just to find the boat we gone to look at and been moved else where, or where under offer or just a load of crap, then on the other hand when we wanted to put our other boat on with a broker , we found that where mostly interested in boat well under valued to move on quickly , just never turn up on the day appointment where made to view the boat other didn't know one end of that boat to the other , and I talking British broker in Greece , I was fob smack when one asked me what I tho of the question type of keel ? As you said other didn't answer emails or return calls , if I was some year younger I would start up as broker and make a killing . Some really haven't got any idea how to deal with buyers or sellers, we ended up buying privately and selling privately.
Good luck any way .

LOL I have exactly the same experience with a certain British broker in Lefkas.
I wanted to view a boat and he just told me he had no time. Maybe if I called back in two weeks...
Unbelieveable. Well, I bought my boat last week in The Netherlands. Very smooth process so far...
But we’ll see after the survey...

I can take a good guess who that was , a friend wanted to take a look at a yacht in the marina just metres away from his office and was told just as you was told.
That's one broker I wouldn't recommend anyone to put a boat on with him,
He valued my old boat 30k less then wha I got for it,
We don't need to pay brokers a commission to give our boats away,

Strange how so many of us seem to have had issues with brokers in Lefkas. I was messed around big time by a broker there and they only started taking me seriously when I contacted the YBDSA. For what it's worth, the YBDSA were excellent when I contacted them and the CEO herself got involved and was very helpful.

Any chance you could pm me with a bit more detail, as I have mate on the look out in that neck of the woods.

The real problem with Lefkas and brokers around that part is they have a large amount of boat to choose from, and there not one broker and I been in touch with and I have been in contact with them all When wanted to list my other boat ,
I would have dealings with again, I hate to think what type of experience buyer are getting is a owner as a problem to get them to list boats .
They just can't be bothered to do the job that they are getting a good commission from the owners,
now and then someone will pop up and post what a good job X have done for them,
They all need a good kick up they ass,
To tell someone that they can't view a boat for some weeks is just outrageous especially when they travel across Europe to view a boat.
I do understand that at times they are busy but hey then start work before nine thirty and don't close up at five,
Even open all day on a Saturday at busy times of the year, earn your commission .
It's just too easy for them now,

You are 100% correct. I only had contact with 2 brokers in Greece and both were worse than useless. They try to make potential buyers feel like they are doing them a favour answering questions or showing a boat. In one case the brokers antics last September cost the owner a likely sale and the boat is still for sale. In the other case I bought the boat despite the best efforts of the broker not to give me an appointment to view when I wanted it and the broker made a complete mess of everything thereafter. I haven't dealt with brokers elsewhere and I don't know if they're all the same but personally I would not recommend to any buyer or seller to use a broker. Unlike Sailaboutvic my rant is not over. I will rant at every opportunity about these chancers.

If you see a V in his surname and a G in his first just be aware ,or even just a G.
The English firm there I did contact regarding a 48 footer just after Christmas I am still waiting a reply

Not the one I dealt with - it's a pity this subject came up under a thread about a boat in Malta.
