yacht dlivery

When you get the quote - ask them what it would be if there was no urgency. 4 years ago I had a boat delivered by road - £700 if I wanted it soon but £350 if I could wait until he had an empty trailer from a delivery going the other way. And that was for a 22 footer Chichester to north Kent.

I can recommend the person who brought mine from Brightlingsea to Gillingham. The engine conked out before they got halfway, but he and his crew successfully and safely brought her in. I will PM you his details.

I love this forum ! Thank you all for taking the effort and time to respond. Based on all your answers I was able to locate an East Anglia based delivery firm that specialises in boat movements using a 4x4 and trailer arrangement with all the relative insurance etc. They quoted £160

My buyer has gone for this which will save me an enormous amount of time. I had agreed to deliver and had a kind offer of help from a very experienced friend.

I would lack both the confidence and experience to do the run
but with someone like that on board would have felt ok.

Its also down to time, logistics, tides and the all important weather window.

I would have had every confidence in the boats ability, but a further complication is that it after launching it would in effect have been a shakedown cruise and there are always the odd things that seem to need attention on the early sails of the season.

Once again thank you to all for your time and effort in responding it is appreciated

Regards Nick

Please will you post details of the transport firm as I have a 25ft yacht to bring to Woodbridge from Falmouth. I was thinking of doing the job myself but my trailer has the wheels in the wrong place for the weight distribution.
