To clean the filter on the front bilge pump under the cabin sole I had to unscrew the eberspacher outlet and the doorstop before I could lift the sole .... aaarghhhh!

Unrelated to that issue, but here's the work of a bonkers yacht designer:

Imagine you're hard on the wind, and it's a bit choppy.

How would you carry cups of tea from that galley to that cockpit?.

Given that the designer designed the boat and did not install the Eber or doorstop, it is a bit unfair to pick on him.

Mr Laurent Giles did a grand job puting lots of lockers into my Westerly. Pity that the guy that installed the heating put the calorifier in a place that renders one of them unusable and a fan heater to take up the whole of another.

Gentlemen don't sail to windward :)

To answer the original question - one does have to wonder. My Jeanneau 42i rear heads was clearly a complete unit that was dumped in during build. Anything that was dropped in the compartment under the sink, went below the shower floor into the bilge and there was no way to retrieve it. By the time we sold the boat there were at least two bog brushes and two soap trays there. Oh and if the forward water tank sprang a leak there was now way for water to drain back to the main bilge. I solved that with a drill n a few seconds.

How to turn off the inlet seacock in our heads, c/o German Frers.
Enter aft cabin
Pack bedding away
Raise bunk cushion and move it aside
Raise section of bunk base and place carefully somewhere in case there is any oil on it
Switch on light
The seacock is somewhere there.

But you can also turn off the engine seacock and check the gearbox oil level while you're in there.;)At least the inlet and outlet are not side by side unlike some marques.
