I'm thinking of installing on of these
https://www.yachtcontroller.it/official/en/contacts/
on my Fairline P46, very expensive but probably worth it when I'm short handed or when the wife is throwing a tantrum! Does anyone have any experience or able to offer me any advice? I was also wondering if it was now possible to re-program the EVC so as to allow control from either the flybridge or saloon without having to bring the throttles to neutral before hitting the control button at the next helm position. I understand that this facility exists in other parts of the world e.g. USA and Australia but UK/EU regulations prohibit the feature.

Many here on the Forum would say that anything that prevents SWIMBO from throwing a tantrum (or reducing the length/depth of the tantrum) would be money well spent.......:D

I can't comment on yachtcontroller because I have not had one but remotes are excellent when docking the boat. I have the Caterpillar remote.

Hot swapping throttles is not an EU prohibition. My current and last boats will hot swap. They have caterpillar engines and were built/ bought in uk.

Hi there
I’m not sure if you were having some specific questions about Yacht controller but at least I have been using the Dual Band model with an additional Joystick on the flybridge for 4 y now and I would not give it away !
Most of the time it is me and my wife and the YC is in use 9/10 when entering / leaving harbours, it just makes the things so so much easier - less hassle, smooth handling with ropes, basically no need of assistance from others....
I have Cat machines and they can be left in any position and be ”taken over” from fb or lower helm
I feel the Joystick is good to have during windier conditions, so maybe it is worth checking the cost for that too ! I have not checked out the latest model from YC but I guess it has not changed too much really, that is why I mentioned the Joystick too ! Kindest regards, Toivo

Thanks to all for your input now I need to justify the cost with man maths and bribing SWMBO she wants a new Dyson at 500gbp if I add a nought I can get a YC. Anyone tried crowd funding? sorry for my late acknowledgement.
