Yacht Charter Web Site

You can get the "regular" prices from any of the main charter company websites. There are two basic pricing regimes. The first from somebody like Sunsail are usually priced per person as they include travel. The per person price varies according to the number of persons in the booking plus of course the type and location of the boat. The second is bareboat where there is a fixed price for the boat and you need to make your own travel arrangements (although many of the agencies will help with this). Bare boat prices tend to vary little for a given type of boat and location, although the actual level of service etc may vary quite a lot as can extras such as deposits, cleaning, extra gear etc. Older boats (3/4 years+ tend to be cheaper). In our experience of chartering before we had our own boat was that for a 36 footer it was cheaper to bareboat and arrange flights direct once you exceeded 3/4 people.

Sites like Latesail are used by charter companies to off load surplus weeks. Usually they are short notice or in less popular places and the advertised discount is from the brochure price.

There are two ways of searching for a deal. The first is to establish a location/boat/week and then search the sites for the lowest price. The second is to set a week and see what is available. You are unlikely ot find a low price in the popular weeks, particularly July/August in the Med except a short notice cancellation.

I am sure once you have spent some time on the sites you will get a good idea of market prices against which to judge any "offers"

Was trying to answer your question about how you know its a good deal. You can only do this by establishing a base price from different charter operators. Google Yacht Charters and you will get plenty to try. www.yachtcharterguide.com looks pretty comprehensive as a start.
