A few days ago, I spotted an AWC on one of the popular boats for sale websites that was very close to my budget and the listing broker just happened to be the broker that did all the paperwork when I sold Stingo six years ago. So of course I phoned him to ask for the full spec and so on.
"Sorry, bud, that boat was sold a few months ago"
"Then why is it still listed"?
"Bud, it helps me find new buyers"
"Well, that's not entirely honest, is it"?
"Bud, all the brokers do this, so chill out"

I've omitted a few sentences because I'm sure they'd result in shore-leave, but one of them went along the lines of "Bud, you know I'm honest because I know that you know that I'm a devout [word removed]"

only thing worse than not having the money to buy the boat of your dreams........
having the money and no blimming boats out there to buy.....................

Phantom "Boat for Sale" listings have been a sign of the times for ages, folks with both the money and time, developing a sudden interest in a "lifestyle" involving white glassfibre did not help.
The market is still moving and anything half decent will sell quickly, any serious buyer will still need to get their bum in gear and keep a eye for stuff coming into the market.
Snooze and you lose !
Do know of one skipper, legendary for his boat having not even moved in adecade or two suddenly buying another boat costing ten times the value of his previous boat.
We still live in interesting times.
