Was reminiscing recently ( as you do when you get a bit older :) ) and wondered whether a yacht I sailed on as a youngster was still about.

Yacht "Bandor" was about 38', built of teak in the late 1930s, one of a pair built to the same design but one having a slightly different coachroof. Built for a particular race (Harwich - Hook of Holland?) but only raced once then was laid up during the war. Bought some time post war by my Dad's then boss, Ken Hodgson, who owned a garage in Blackheath. He had her restored and kept her in Shoreham Harbour. Dad's affinity for anything boat-like resulted in Ken Hodgson asking Dad to do work on the boat more often than he had him working in his garage!

Anyone know if Bandor is still around somewhere?

Thanks guys.

Fantasie - I'd found the first link but not the second. Stunning isn't she.

Dom - Interesting. I wonder where she's berthed these days. Also, as I recall, Dad's boss Ken never knew the whereabouts of the sistership. I wonder how they met up again.

I remember Bandor when she was based on the Orwell. Must be 15 years ago.

I think she was refitted and owned for a while by either Sean Macmillan or the late Mick Newman of Spirit Yachts?

There was the for then slightly anachronistic carbon fibre spinny pole.
