Can I admit to being a bit scared?

The wind is only about 30mph at the moment, wind is to blowing the boat onto the dock, when the surge comes I am a little concerned that the dock may break up???

Wanted to get out but owner wasn't up for paying for the fuel!!! Could be a blessing with Alpha further south making any passages difficult!!!

Crossing my fingers!!

Chris

It seems to vary vastly in different areas, anything from 2-12ft
even talking of reverse surge in some areas which would be a problem as I have 12ft of water at the dock and a 10ft draft!!!

Chris

Good luck!

I see this morning here on TV that the beast will move across the state and maybe exit near Miami/Ft Lauderdale.

If you have to stay alongside which you indicate - I would also stick your anchor and a heap of chain on the bottom too, as well as all the other stuff you will have done!

Still have power

Blowing pretty hard now, est 60mph. Wind from behind now giving the dock a break.

This is worse than Katrina, that was a Cat 1 and the eye traveled 10 miles south of here. This is a Cat 3 (125mph) and the eye is coming directly over us.

I wanted to run an anchor to the other side of the canel but couldn't borrow a boat, so just dropped the lot where we sit. (only one anchor so as to make sure they don't tangle)

Been up all night now, 5.15am here and the eye is about to make landfall.

We escaped yet again, but I've just seen on CNN the damage to Ft Lauderdale, including skyscrapers with windows blown out. I guess we shall not be going to the boat show this weekend. How did you fare?

Re: Chris ok????

I hope he and the boat are okay. I've been sent some video footage of some large motorboats being blown off their moorings and down the waterways, crashing into other boats, bridges, the bank etc. Quite sad to see /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Am trying to see if I can share the video.
