Hi

I am eyeing the life jackets wondering when they were last serviced.
They were my fathers and he was pretty good at that sort of thing, but even so, its been a few years.

The jacket is an XM Quickfit 150

I found the link below but it is for the 150n.

Looks about right but I thought Id check with you guys to be sure.
Also, where do people buy their rearming kits?
I have two of these things so maybe a multipack is more cost effective than the £20 (inc del) listed here.

Here are some pics of the jacket.

BTW - when I have got the rearming kit sourced I will chuck the jacket in the bath as a test, and will leave it inflated overnight to make sure it holds air.

As long as the cylinder weighs at least what's stamped on it, and isn't corroded, it doesn't need to be replaced. So you don't need a full re-arm kit for a service, just the auto head which should cost a lot less than £20.

Thanks gents.
I'd like to weigh the cylinder but won't it decompress if I unscrew it?

No - the firing mechanism drives a hollow needle into the cylinder and allows the CO2 to inflate the jacket. If you unscrew it, it will be sealed - if it isn't sealed its empty!

And if you've been scared of disturbing the screw thread because of this misconception, you should remember to check in future that the bottle is still tightly screwed in. You can grip it though the cover without opening up the jacket, to check during the season. Loose bottles seem to be one of the most commonly-reported lifejacket faults.

(The needle's not hollow, btw, the gas passes around it rather than through it.)
