Thinking if replacing my foo*ed Simrad RD68 with an XM DSC radio - anyone got any thoughts on this.
Any recommendations gratefully accepted - however the mic must connect on the side as opposed to the front. It should also be flush mounted and not suffer from a unreadable screen when it gets a bit damp as £150 for a replacement Simrad front panel is a bit steep....

Standard Horizon is a little more expensive but comes with a warranty against water-ingress (i think its 2 years, off the top of my head)

I have 2 of these and they have been no trouble at all. The only annoyance I have found, is if the GPS isn't connected, the alarm goes off and there's no way to turn the damn thing down necessitating a run to the radio to silence the alarm. The NMEA connection wasn't happy talking to my old navman gps plotter, but seems happy enough talking to my CP180.
I have seen the XM's go for around 90 quid too, but can't remember where.

(it's Anne in another guise :-) )
Well she was left logged in......
Been looking on ebay - some interesting prices on there :-)

Can this unit be flush mounted?
