Can someone with an XM dehumidifer please tell me how to connect an external drain? I'm guessing that it's the spigot on the back of the unit, and I need to transfer the rubber plug from that spigot to the one that normally drains into the tank..?

Oh and what setting do you recommend for the humidistat please? - I was planning to leave it on continuosly. Even the lowest 'Wet' setting seems to suck a fair amount of water out of my seemingly dry office.

Take the bung off the back and stick it into the tank drain. You will need quite a large bore hose for the run off, can't remeber what size, but I do know that the 1/4" off my old unit didn't fit. IIRC I set my humidistat at about 33% of its range. I calibrated it by turning the knob until the unit kicked in on a what I considered to be a suitably dry day, then rolling it back until it cut off again.

Yes, that's the way to do it. I set up mine on the galley work surface next to the sink with the hose draining into the sink. Can't remember what the hose diameter is. It is amazing how much moisture the machine pulls out. we have used it at home in a previously rather damp dressing room ( big wardrobe really!) and at first the tank filled up in a day. Steve's settings seem about right
