Well done t'council, but I'm afraid that property developer plays a long game and, in the current political environment of desperation to build, t'council is likely to be overruled.

Correction on reading all the application. The application is for the land/commerical buildings at the back of Gowens leaving Gowens alone. A local marine carpenter is/was displaced.

The online marketplace takes another scalp; Wyatts has been put up for sale by Marinestore as a going concern, but the word locally is that it is unlikely to sell in its current format. It will be a great loss to us Mersea folk, as well as visiting yachts needing repairs/replacements etc. Hats off to Marinestore for keeping it open so long, but it's a sign of the times that they are forced to retreat to what will be their sole store in Maldon, having had four sites at the apogee of 3D chandlery retail.
It's sad but was there any promotional activity? So may retailers seem to think that putting a sign on the door saying 'Open' is enough, it isn't now and hasn't been since the 80s retail boom.
