A warning to one and all about www.marinecompasses.co.uk. Do not buy a marine compass from this firm.
They mark items on their website as being 'in stock'. This is a lie, they do not carry stock, it comes direct from their suppliers.
They state that they ship within 2 days of purchase. This is a lie, they do not ship at all, it comes direct from their suppliers.
They have a contact us web form........waste of time using this as they don't respond. In fact I notice that they now state on the website that it will be my spam filters fault if they don't respond!!!!
They have no contact number on their website.
Email correspondence was responded to telling me that they were not responsible for shipping problems as it was the suppliers fault but they would find out what supplier was doing and would contact me back.....yes, you have guessed it. I have yet to hear anything more from them.
Extremely **** service all round from marinecompasses.co.uk who have a lot to false statements on their website. Happy to take my money but could not care less after that point.
On the flip side when I did speak to the supplier, Point Distribution, who imports the Autonautic instruments, they could not have been more helpful. They explained that my order was not in stock with them and was on its way from Spain. The communication from Chris Cole at www.pointdistribution.co.uk could not have been better. He even offered to drive down to Wiltshire from Beconsfield especially to ensure that I had it in time for our trip. As it was the item was shipped satisfactorily.
If anyone needs to replace an old Plastimo Olympic compass, I would recommend the Autonautic instruments but please please make sure you buy from any one of Point Distribution Ltds other dealers and not from marinecompasses.co.uk.
