WTF?

5-10 miles West of Hurst Castle (I can't be more accurate than that) I recently noticed Yellow Special Marks. They seemed to be marking two 'electronic' buoys, possibly measuring tidal stream?

Can someone tell me exactly what they are?

Turbidity monitors measuring suspended particles? any dredging going on in the area?
Check NTM for area- probably research bouys.

Yes I've seen them too and yes there has been dredging in the area with one of the huge barge/ships pouring all the dredgings over the side around 5-10 miles SW off the Neeedles this last Bank Hol' Monday

Yeah, we saw them on our way to Weymouth at Witsun. It was only my 'never go between marks you were not expecting to see' rule that meant we didn't hit the small sea-green coloured devices hiding between them. I would have thought an IDM might have been more approrpiate.
