Four cylinder diesel: changed oil and diesel filters. Ran up motor for a few minutes. Two days later press the start button - a click. The motor is completely seized! A mechanic has removed the injecters and squirted oil into the cylinders: try again with a crowbar on Monday.
Has anyone had a similar distressful incident?

Crowbar !! could be a bit drastic using one of those without checking out a few things first, like removing the starter motor to make sure that hasnt jammed or the gear wheel hasnt broken up and bits jammed in between the flywheel starter ring gear and housing, belts off and or the gearbox isnt to blame, be worth checking over a few things first before you apply tons of pressure to the crank.

Are you sure it's the motor that's seized and not the starter motor that's dead. I have one of these & it eats starter motors. 24v on a 12v starter starts the engine fine but there starter motor has a limited life.

Symptoms I've had when the starter dies:

1. Works & then just doesn't - with just a click from the solenoid.
2. Starts to turn over slowly.
3. After a a few starts of #2, it acts like the battery is dead: turns over slower & slower, then stops within a few seconds.

I agree something simple has happened to lock engine.
Definitely remove starter motor then try to turn it.
Similarly remove injectors.
Also if its indirect cooling remove water pump drive belt as I once had the waterpump seize on mine which locked the engine through the drive belt.
