THe problem with your suggestion Robin is , this boat problem is happen right across the Med , which mean to avoid it would means having to keeping away from the Med .

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I could happily cruise the Atlantic coast of France, and onwards down via Galicia, Spain and Portugal to Gibraltar plus add in a few months cruising Ireland and even Scotland (if they behave after the election). OR alternatively consider an Atlantic circuit or even shipping the boat over to the Caribbean for a year or two. Getting close to the goings on in the Eastern Med would hold no appeal to me at all.
