I came across a video on YouTube of a fast rescue craft made by a Dutch company DSMG -FRC-903, and they have posted a video of a righting test, they seemed happy with the result, but it left me wondering who in their right mind would put a flotation bag right in the helmsmans sight line. I don't see how it's possible for the helm to see over the bag once it's inflated, and if he deflates it to see where he is going, he's got no protection from being capsized again. Am I missing something here ? Every other FRC that I've seen mounts the righting bag on an A frame aft, is this a case of somebody trying to be different just for the sake of it ?
I'm sure there are regulations which require the helmsman to be able to see where he is going.
