I dunno what Ability is. Do you not have Windows? Every version of windows so long as I can remeber (98, 2000, XP, Vista) has had Paint included for free. As someone said above, it's in Start/Programs/Accessories/Paint. Also most digi cameras come with an image editor disc, Exif Editor or somesuch. And at the pro end of the scale there's Adobe Photoshop Elements and the full Photoshop but you'd have to buy those not get as a feebie
Ok, call me thicko, It is there, didn't notice it earlier, but its a dead basic looking bit of software, There is no tool bar along the top, and only a few functions down the side, have had a brief play with it, and made one heck of a mess with it!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Do I make do with that, or should i download the version Brendan is suggesting?
Yes that's it. It is basic but it's perfectly ok for this sort of thing
Frexample, open your photos in paint (right click the photo file and "open with" paint). To take out the foreground boat just pick up a rectangle of water from nearby and copy and paste it over the offending boat. A few times, a bit like bathroom tiling. The colours change but you can use the aerosol to blend. Use the eye drop tool to pick a colour from the nearby water, for the aerosol.
To remove the fender it is better to zoom in 600% perhaps and work at a pixel level. Just pick up the coulour you need (eg grey for the window frame) using the eye dropper tool, and make a new window frame using the line tool. Likewsie, paint over the fender in white where it is in front of grp. And either avoid discolouring the guard rail, or paint it back in at the end. Easy peasy with bit of practice!
Anytime you make a mistake, use edit/undo to erase the last step you did. Keep saving it as you work, if things are going well, in case you muck it up later.
Excellent thanks jfm, I got all that, and have been playing with it, alot easier when you zoom into 600%.
Have had a quick play, made some mistakes which couldn't be deleted, buti can play with it more when i get more time.
Next question/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
So how do you add in layers?
