WOT HAT(s)

Summer? Ball Cap.
Winter? Touk

Base Ball. the only game more boring than cricket.

PS At least one non American team has won the World Series. The Blue Jays. I think all the players were American though. There again
How many Englishmen Play for Chelsea.

Tilley hats are what I always wear, except if it's wet in which case I deploy a sou'wester. The Tilleys tie on, float and give good all-round protection against the sun (including ears and neck). Unlike baseball caps, which I really hate - they should only be worn for playing baseball, and only then by Americans!

Tilley's are great but I have yet to try them in wet weather. I don't see why they wouldn't be adequate unless it really was a howling storm.

OTOH I often thought that a dearstalker has a lot going for it. It has a peak yet protects the nape of the neck at the same time. They also have fold down flaps for the ears.

I think my sou'wester was consigned to the rubbish dump several decades ago.

The Tilleys can cope in light to moderate rain (like I get every time I enter Poole harbour!) and as I have two, if one gets wet I can deploy the other until it dries.

On the 'big stage'- that's not my experience....2010 went to see the Texas Rangers play New York Mets.

I admit the game alone can leave a little bit to be desired if you blank out the rest of 'the show', but the Americans know how to party, baseball and particularly football.

You can get a meal, have a drink or two, all with the family for a great experience.

However I doubt if I'd want to go too often, too remote from the great experience of sailing peacefully out there!

I take it that the dearstalker is the more expensive, marine version of the deerstalker, as worn by gamekeepers and Sherlock Holmes.

I had an Experimental Hat of my own design for winter dinghy racing; after previous sad losses, and cold ears, I took a wooly hat with a brim and stitched polystyrene into it, as buoyancy and thermal insulation.

It worked, as soon as we capsized it floated away and my ears got colder.
