Worth watching to the end...

Very nice!

I've thought about picking up a Mavic Pro to shoot something similar myself; but I am concerned about recovery and dropping it in the drink!!

The drone seemed to be moving around a lot on recovery; was that weather/conditions doing that or (sorry for saying) an inexperienced pilot?

The drone went into return to home mode due to low battery and it was a battle to land it as each time we got close it attempted to fly up to 120 feet and go back to the home point - our error!

The video had it all. Good mix of drone & other footage, nice editing of drone footage to avoid unwanted movement and of course excellent editing in general.

Is it just me but when I saw the clip of you hosing down the transom I was immediately reminded of an LMFAO music video :)

I would launch and recover from the front deck to avoid the cockpit roof overhang problem. I flew my drone into the letterbox opening on our boat and gave up until I learnt to hand take off and recover.

Agreed, we were aiming for the bow but things got a little excitable;
Battery at critical low and return to home mode sending it bonkers; you can see the drone hitting the superstructure of the boat at one point!
At the same time we were being pulled over by the police, I radioed them and told them they'd have to wait!

But all good fun and when the Mavic arrives next week, (fingers crossed), I'm going to spend several days practicing before I attempt to bring it in through the sun roof!

I'm thinking of buying a fishing net for emergency recovery, what do you think?

great bit of video, really liked where you speeded bits up. I have wondered how you are supposed to get these drone things back on board, agile teenager!

Echo what has been said, great editing, super quality.

I had my heart in my mouth when the drone hit the superstructure and breathed a sigh of relief when it was caught and avoided the oggin.

It's very easy to get wrapped up in the flying and lose track of the battery reserves particularly when you are getting some good footage.

I suspect you might end up with a bit of damage from a fishing landing net emergency landing but better than sending it into the water.

Henry :)

Super video and super editing, well done!

I hope you don't mind me asking but which camera did you use for the non-drone shots?

Thanks

Osmo mobile and iphone 7plus.

I didn't know Osmo even existed. Very interesting and impressive results.

In your vid starting from 0:23 and onwards to the shots of the boat arriving at a marina I could have sworn a dslr or similar was used. iPhone has very good image quality...
