Calliderous? Umm...okay, I confess, I don't get it. Why is that funny?

But, I'm sure I understood Seajet's original remark about boats named "Lady ____". He wasn't objecting to boats named after those women who, by marriage or family origin, are members of the peerage, and are thus so-known.

He was being mildly scornful about the curious habit of...certain owners, to name their boats not with the romantic and significant tribute of simply using SWMBO's Christian name (there surely can't be anything wrong with that?), but by rather pretentiously entitling the name, with 'Lady'.

It is a bit odd, if you think about it...I expect most vessels that are given female names, were named after particular ladies...but if the woman herself isn't or wasn't ever known as Lady____ , why should the tribute to her, have that title tacked on?

Besides, Seajet rules!

I saw a motor cruiser ashore the other day, with a roughly-painted name-sign reading "Princess Isolde". At least, I think that was it. It was in the brokerage section... :D:D:D

I dare you to call your boat "Slut SWMBO".....!
How long would you last?

I might have trouble finding my own boat, in some marinas!:D

Besides, it would take me a week to explain to mademoiselle, what the abbreviation meant... :D

But, as I think you're saying, I reckon adding a title only works if it's not meant to be taken seriously...because if it is, it's very hard to!
