During pre purchased survey it was noted that the cutlass bearing was worn and had some play (about 1-2mm) I had to get the boat launched and back home and was advised the wear would not cause a big problem but should be addressed when next out on the hard. This advice proved sound and the boat (Moddy 27) performed well underpower since. She has resided afloat with the odd winter trip out and it was my intention to sail her through this season and lift her at the end of the autumn addressing all hull issues (new log etc, cutlass bearing at that time) the only signiture i get that the bearing is worn is a little vibration espesically evident when motoring in a swell.
Will this cause me a big problem if left through this season (I am unsure of the consequenses of leaving it) or would it be better to bite the bullet and pay for a dedicated lift to replace this item at this end of the season?
