Hi!

Looking to find the workshop manual for my outboard Suzuki DF6A from 2017. I have the included OWNER'S manual (bought engine new).

I need to replace the engine oil filter and the internal anode (inside the engine) as well as the impeller.

It doesn't say how to do this in the included OWNER'S manual:
https://www.suzukimarine.com.au/assets/manuals/2.5HP-30HP/K17-DF4A-5A-6A-99011-97L00-055EN.pdf

It says "go to workshop and have them do it". I bought the parts and want to do it myself.

Next engine I buy - the availability of such manuals (preferrably free of cost and downloadable from the internet) will be a determining factor whether to purchase or not.

Cheers

1996 to 2007 is the best I can do

covers DF6 models but not DF6A

Worth looking to see if it will help but after a quick glance I think probably not

Probably no use: my DF4/5/6 2005 manual shows engine filter clean as a massive job involving power head disassembly??? No worth it IMO. There is also no other anode apart from two on leg. Obviously more modern unit is completely different!

ITYWF that the DF6A was new model in 2017

There is an anode behind the thermostat and a disposable engine oil filter , I assume the filter is accessible. (The cylinder block looks quite different to the older version)

I reckon changing the anode will present no difficulties and the filter change should be no problem if it is as accessible as it ought to be.

The water pump looks pretty much the same if not identical to the earlier models. The manual for the older DF6 may well be good enough to cover an impeller change.

Hi!

thanks for advice. Been busy. Will try this week. Will use the exploded charts for the oil filter and engine anode. Maybe for impeller also. Will double check the latter against the older manual you linked.

keep you updated on progress, maybe take a few pics.

cheers

Changed oil filter, engine block anode today. Simple tasks. Don’t understand why bundled user manual states that to be authorised service centre jobs?

Didn’t change the impeller. Next season...

cheers

There aren’t much YouTube clips, no “Haynes” workshop manual etc for this engine being so new. Looking forward to more material. Would love to read up a bit before attemting the impeller.

I’ve changed the impeller many times in the inboard Volvo Penta diésel but it is simpler.

Thanks all here for support!!

I can see no obvious differences between the late DF 6 and DF6A water pump installations. The pump repair kits are even the same part number.

The manual in my link in # 3 should be adequate for an impeller change ( I describes both early and late DF6 water pumps)
