Work is progressing

That's interesting, thanks. I'm doing my own refit at the moment, and the yard recommended that I replace the exhaust horns, although I'm struggling to see much wrong with the old ones. The water injection elbows were ok on mine. Expensive components though.
As you can see from these pics, the top end of the pipe looked ok apart from the give away rust stains. On removal of the rubber cap it was a different story.=http://s133.photobucket.com/user/doublevision_photos/media/IMG_1487.jpg.html]

^^ Wow, is this purely because of salt, or other reasons? I'm on fresh water and while i'm limited geographically, these issues are not a concern... bit of a trade off

I thought it was just from the exhaust. Mine weren't anything like as bad as that, but still had visible corrosion and a noticeable thinning of the horn wall underneath the rubber cuff.

I have done a modification with the new ones by smearing sikaflex in the inside joint between the rubber and the ally. I am hoping this will deter the water from seeping in there and rotting the new ones for a while. I'm not sure of the effect of fresh water in them but it has to be better than the salt.

Have just fitted a Volvo Penta 3581115 kit to mine, it prevents moisture getting between the rubber and the aluminium.

Just the legs to put back on tomorrow and hopefully the test fire in the afternoon.

Th at's excellent progress, very well done. Top marks on bilge cleanliness as well.

Thanks Jimmy. I do have a bit of OCD when it comes to my engine room! I see you are doing a similar project. My neighbour in Sovereign Harbour has just bought an 05 T40 with D6 310s. I think he got a good deal so I will put him onto your thread incase he needs to do the same task.

Final jobs completed today. Engines test fired and no leaks and legs back on=http://s133.photobucket.com/user/doublevision_photos/media/IMG_1509.jpg.html]

That engine and drive refurbish looks a proper job, you must be very pleased with that.
My biggest odd is my engine room but no way can I take engines out to do it properly and with them in its almost impossible. I'm envious:encouragement:

Well she has been back in the water now for 2 weeks and every weekend it has blown a hooligan here or been p155ing down with rain so have not been able to sea trial yet. Every thing works as it should but of course not had the chance to test under load. Another week of nail biting so please can you all get some decent weather happening for the weekend?
