Wooden cabin soles

Another question about the boat I've just purchased!!

She has wooden cabin soles which could do with a bit of tidying up. It looks as though they were previously varnished. I can't seem to recall there ever being a non-slip varnish but have never had to look before. If I re-varnish them I don't want to slide about down below on wet days.

Other than varnishing and sprinkling sand or something over the wet varnish can anyone share suggestions?

We used satin finish varnish and it's not slippy. Don't think you need to start throwing sand around!

I would suggest following Paul F's well proven ploy of carpets everywhere /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Axminster mind. Nothing else will do.

Ronseal floor varnish is pretty good.

And I know what you're thinking, but it's practical too, as it needs little attention and holds the dirt.

I used linseed oil on mine. Came up well.

Only just finished mine last week
Ronseal "Diamond Hard" Satin Floor finish, its water based
the finish was quite acceptable for very little effort, it does go very hard i applied 5 coats.
Do warm the tin in hot water to thin it & brush on with the minimum of brushing out
