wood/steel glue

My rudder consists of a centre steel plate with shaped wood (aerofoil style) surround. The boat has been out of the water for a while, and the wood at the top of the rudder has come away for the steel centre plate, presumably because of drying out. I will soak the rudder under clamps to get the wood back into line, and then glue together. Any suggestions for wood to steel glue, especially if there is a substance that will tolerate some dampness in the wood.
Thanks Spits

Hi yes, if the timber is dry and the steel relatively clean, you can use Sikaflex 298 is the stuff used to literally glue teak to steel or aluminium or wood sub decks. great stuff but it gets every where.

G’day David,
Is this cosmetic or structural? If it is structural, I would be looking at something a lot stronger than Sikaflex.
