Wobbly MD7a

Thanks Rob - apparently the engine had an "out of boat" rebuild in 2009 and actually the mounts, I suspect, were replaced then as they look pretty new. We took the injectors out yesterday and they have been handed on for cleaning etc - we'll wait and see but I think that may well be the problem as she's exhausting "spurks" of unburnt deisel. -here's hoping - thanks for your input.

Hi
so did you service th einjectors finally?
What was the outcome?

I had an old MD1b. the mountings were shot so I replaced them with Volvo parts, probably new-old stock. The rubber parted from the steel in less than three weeks and Volvo sent me three sets before I had a full set of sound new ones. I'd go for R&D replacements now, were i in the same position.

What was the outcome? I have a pair of Md7a’s. One is very smooth the other is horrendous, and appears to be the one that was rebuilt. I’ve been through..
Injectors-checked at diesco
Pump- (cav type) checked timing, using an old trick, tried pulse testing timing against actual timing marks, compared against good engine too. Also bled after peering through side cover.
Engine-compression tested, valve clearance tested.

It feels to me like it’s too advanced, and or too rich. I even think cold start might be jammed but I can just hear a difference if I pull it.

I’m guessing governor, mix valve, etc all good as it responds to Throttle, but through working range is horrible!

Start well, ticks over well, at top end sounds ok, all else the boat shakes. Any ideas, sounds fairly similar to your issues.

Thanks in advance/retard :)
