I must announce the passing of my old friend, Lieutenant Rene Tremblere(Rtd) of the French Navy.
No more will he grace the bucking foredeck of his beautiful barque - Surcouf, nor stand with the old men on that lovely Breton quayside.

Au Revoir - mon cher et vieux ami.

Comme c\'est triste

He will be in good company. Quite a few of the more, shall we say, comet-like* denizens of these boards seem to have been reduced to stardust lately. I had hoped he would be on hand (with a bottle of Calva) to take our lines in Cherbourg. Sadly...

* They come, they go, and only those who understand God's heaven ever know when they will reappear.

I beleive the Barque Surcouf collided with Bismark graced with a crew of LavvieBrush,WeeWullie,BavKen,LunaticSkipper and BanMeImaPrat.

Re: Comme c\'est triste

He called me late last night and asked that We do not stand at his grave and weep - he did not die - he does not sleep - he is the thousand winds that blow.
Rather gather he was fond of French Beans - et aussi les choufleurs

Mistake...

But Bismark was witty, knowledgable, handsome, German. Wore big huge overcoats. Military bearing. Handlebar moustache. Same person?

Yours

Disillusioned

Re: Mistake...

Otto Von was as you describe.
He was German, Donald - Rene was French...surely you can see that?

Confused

Re: Comme c\'est triste

Damn - now I understand the thread on third reefs a while back. One would also need spark safe torches if putting that reef in at night..

Yes. And?

"I beleive the Barque Surcouf collided with Bismark graced with a crew of LavvieBrush,WeeWullie,BavKen,LunaticSkipper and BanMeImaPrat."

You mean WeeWullies beard was virtual!!!!! Did wonder. Hope he has a virtual nick on his face from shaving it when he is laid out for l'office des morts.

Will miss the more loving ones, but they suffered the penalty of keeping bad company I guess.

John

Re: Very careless

I think you should looked after more. Perhaps he was not very lovable, after all, and it is better he has gone.

Re: Christmas List

No. The 40 seems to be obsolete, replaced by the 400.
