If there's anyone thinking that having two boats is a proper headache, well, it can be worse: being unable to use any - that is.

While flying back home a few days ago I enjoyed the view on these fantastic cruising grounds.
Glorious sunshine, dead calm waters (unusual for that area!), and no other boats in sight (also VERY unusual, in peak months).

Just perfect. What a shame, flying over a sea like that at 500 kts, instead of swimming in it... :(

Oi, I'll be onboard (inside a pretty warm by now shelter!) tomorrow, upgrading electronics, fitting new venetian blinds, modifying the utility room layout, and dealing with more other thing that I want to think of - on top of what was already done.
Don't blame me for dreaming of future cruising for a minute....! :) :rolleyes:
 
Very nice Mapism. Kicking myself for not being there is such calm conditions. ( Bonifacio srait; your camera is looking sw, with madellena, spargi, cavallo, levazzi, etc all showing clearly).

Hiya Captain, how's things? I haven't seen you posting lately - busy boating season down under, I suppose...

The newcomer is a 56 feet plastic boat (Father, forgive me...! :rolleyes:) built by Dalla Pietà - a Venetian yard you probably never heard of, because in their heyday they always struggled to keep up with the local demand, and never had time (nor need) to invest in the export market.
Sorry, I have yet to post a proper "new toy" thread because I've been busy going back and forth to N Adriatic to follow the refitting - both for stuff already planned, and also other things that popped up along the way. You know how it is with boats, you ALWAYS end doing more than originally planned...
But hopefully, the time we are wasting (sort of) in this beginning of the season will pay dividends later on - fingers crossed! :rolleyes:
In the meantime, you can get the gist from this thread which I posted after the seatrial.

BTW, are you planning to come to the Old Continent this summer? I mean EU summer, of course.
It would be nice to catch up, maybe somewhere along our (pretty long!) route from Venice, where the boat is at the moment, to CF.
We will in fact cruise the whole E Adriatic coast, down to Montenegro, then heading towards the heel of IT, Messina Strait, and eventually the Aeolian and Aegadian Islands, before the last leg to S Sardinia.
We are just still unsure about timing, but hopefully we should know better in a couple of weeks.

Nice boat indeed P, all that speed! :cool: Quite a run around to CF, but what's the rush!
Lots of excitement for you folks with the refit and the passage planning for the trip home for the new boat, would have loved to catch up on the way round, especially the Dalmatian Coast.
I'm sure it's all lovely coastline on the rest of the route anyway.
Have you got any idea of a departure time for the cruise to CF?

A and I will be heading Cairns, Queensland area this winter, although Andie will be representing the family in Europe in July, Exit music festival and a tour of Scotland.

Nope C, I'm afraid that the timeframe is the least predictable variable for us ATM.
Not that this is a big concern, actually - we definitely prefer to complete before leaving any job involving a good knowledge of the boat construction, of which here there's plenty.
But as I said, hopefully we should be able to start making proper timing plans by the end of next week - touch wood! :D

Cairns is lovely, hot and humid weather aside - though we were there in Jan, during our first AU home exchange trip (when we eventually met in the Harbour City). Not sure about how weather is like in (your) winter - possibly nicer?
Anyway, don't miss the opportunity to make a snorkeling cruise to the GBR! :encouragement:

We will be there in the dry/less humid season, being in the tropics, and after the devastating cyclone recently and the effect on local tourism, we thought we would invest our holiday funds at home.....and give our European friends a break ;)
