I'm spending the next 3 weeks getting my new-to-me boat from Northern Ireland somewhere towards Brighton... weather permitting!

I'll be proudly wearing the forum burgee, so look out for a Moody 33 'Hipsley Lady', and do come and say hi if you spot us (we might have some Bushmills left on board)

I'll try and take lots of photos and get my head round posting them afterwards.

Love to all,

Philippa

Why 3 weeks? are you rowing it? or are you going the long way round? - 5~6 days should be enough.

Anyway - good luck - remember to turn LEFT at Land's End /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey, you're right, I have just told my crew to cancel a large proportion of her leave as we should be able to cut down our cruise to a few days if we go non-stop.

c'mon cliff, brain engaged, it is a holiday, remember those /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I must admit a non-stop passage of that length in an unfamiliar boat seems potentially "exciting" to say the least.

There's loads of lovely little haunts to find all along that route (on both sides!) I'd plan for several years of cruising if you want to do them all justice!

I can't see you not enjoying it, provided your new love (the boat, of course) doesn't give too much trouble. I trust you will already know what to expect from your other love (SWMBO).

Have a great trip, I'm only jealous!!

Have a great trip. Having only daysailed my Snappie 26 I bought a Moody 31 in Plymouth last year and sailed it back to Essex. A fabulous trip - too exciting to be scary. Wish I could do it again (except this time I'd turn right out of Plymouth and enjoy more west country cruising). So don't rush it, just savour it and I hope all goes trouble free for you.

Good luck with your trip.

If you reach Swansea, drop us a line and we'll buy you a pint. (or two)

We sailed our previous boat, a Halcyon 27 from Hamble to Swansea non stop on her delivery trip, lots of fun, but ripped sails and and siezed engine made the advice given here very ripe.

Tell us the tale when you return.

Regards

MJ

which way have you decided to go, down the irish coast then across to holyhead then down to the south coast, or down to ardglass and across to isle of man and to anglesey then down the coast, or down to arklow and a long trip across to milford haven then down. There are some great places to visit, hope you get some good weather and inform us of your trip once you get to your destination..
