Wiring boat ready for first bss help!!!! Please

Hi all
I have a dejon 14ft with no power, I have purchased a solar panel and a charge controller to wire up to my battery to charge it. I have also purchased a switch panel for lights and bilge pump etc but am struggling to figure out how to wire it all up.
I have been told I need to add an isolator switch in the circuit somewhere and lastly can I have my battery in the cabin. Any help would be very mich appreciated

You can have your battery in the cabin but it must be secured with straps and unable to move or in it's own box.

Have a good read of all the relevant sections, get it right and you'll save the cost of a re visit.
I don't think inspectors are working at the moment, hopefully that will change soon.

Thanks for that, I have a battery box to put battery in with straps so all good there.
how about the cable from battery to charge controller? I’ve been told to use 25mm which I thought was a bit overkill but I’m new to all this.
Also would I need to have an isolator switch as the switch panel is wired from the charge controller

If in a non ventilated space I think the battery compartment/box will need to be ventilated to the outside air or use a maintenance free sealed type battery .

The connections from cable to battery terminal are important. They can be soldered or crimped. If they're the usual type with a screw fitting it's a fail. It should be a simple test with a boat of your size, but it's well worth a read through the BSS site. You'll also need the stickers, clearly marking fuel shut off point, battery switch etc.
