Wireless wind direction and speed indicators

Windy's statement is incomplete. Tactic does have nmea out however it is necessary to install a T122 wireless to nmea unit (west of £300).
Not sure why a sane person would buy a ST tiller pilot other than to start another tread of disappointment on here.
Try a PC Nautic. A little more involved to install but amazing support, open source logic and components and enough ins and outs to satisfy the most inventive PBO. Biggest issue is it works which means finding something else to fiddle. Apologies to the OP for thread drive

Perfectly sane. I am buying it because it will do what I want it to do, and that is primarily for motoring and holding a course while I set sails etc at the beginning and end of a trip. No intention of sailing in the sort of conditions that will tax it. They are currently on offer at less then one third of the price if an EV. I had a 1000 on a smaller version of the same design boat which gave many years' good service, and other owners of the same boat as I have now report that it is adequate if used in the way I intend.

The B&G is the one Uma have that failed due to water ingress and battery failure. Or to be more specific, it failed due to complete lack of weather proofing and poor wiring internally. I was a bit surprised how dainty the wiring was inside given the life it is intended to lead. The battery door is held on by pressure from the mounting plate and is just a flat bit of plastic. Hopefully the next version will add some kind of seal after the feedback they gave.

Has anyone other than youtube drama queens suffered the same failure or are we condemning a product based on a survey of 1?

There's this new thing called Google if you'd like to get a more broad picture. Let us know how you get on.
I have personal experience along with a lot of research before I invested. The only common problem with the B&G unit is initial pairing as the method in the manual was incorrect but I believe it’s been corrected now.
Water ingress is not a common fault.

Mine has done 4.5 years faultlessly. I wish some of my other tech would perform as well.
Well that's it isn't it. Yours could be the odd one that hasn't broken. Besides 4.5 years isn't that long.

My tacktick must be about 20. The screen has had a few dings, but works. The speed didn't work when I got the boat as the bearings were gunged up. Cleaning fixed that and it's still working fine. Despite all the abuse and a lot of use as a charter boat.

I have the old autohelm that needs a seatalk signal. I have just bought a used 85001 converter and hoping this will work with my nasa wireless. I've just realised how much more useful sailing to wind direction could be compared to in built compass.
