Wireless remote for the crane.

Please can I have some advice?
I have a hydraulic crane powered by a 115 volts, the remote pendant is (I believe) switching a 12 volt controller, there are only two
buttons, up and down.
I would like to change this to a wireless remote, I think I would need a 12 volt, two channel unit?
I would be grateful for any advice here please.

Don't see why it wouldn't work on your crane .

Yea if you're sure the relay/controller box is 12 v then get a 12 v remote. There is one all over eBay that everyone recommends including several posters on here. About £12 iirc

OT sorry : out of curiosity where do you get the 115 v from? Genset or inverter?

Andy59, would you believe that is just the one I could on e-bay and thought would work
JFM, I have a 20 KVA Onan Genset, switchable or 115V or 240V, on shore power it runs from the the transformed 115v circuit.
You raise a good point though, I've not tried the crane on the Genny, so I'm not sure if I can just leave it on 240v and it will "transform"

That sounds interesting Roy. Do you have two separate ring mains switched automatically by vsr's? You'd need that surely. Does the genset change from 1500 rpm to 1800 when you select 115 v? What about all your appliances- fridges, immersion, batt chargers, washing machine, airco? They must be one or the other 115 or 230 and all the same, right? The genset would have to be on that setting when cruising I guess

Hmm, I'm not sure, but you have really got me thinking. I've tested the genny (switched to 240v) and the kettle worked So I guessed it was feeding the 240v side. Whilst she is American, she was factory purchased for the UK. Interestedly the Oven is 240v as is the aircon, but the other apliances are 115V. I guess I will have to spend an afternoon getting a full understanding of what I've got.

Ha Super, was looking for a bowthruster remote without paying silly marine prices.

Do be aware that the remotes linked to above have a half-second delay between releasing the button and the relay disengaging. May not be a problem for you, but it ruled them out for me (controlling the anchor windlass) because I need to joggle the anchor into place using very short blips.

There is another type of remote (squarish white box) on eBay which doesn't have this problem.
