Travelling in or out of a tier 3 area is presently against government advice. Why is it wrong .
Think about where you are in the country and how serious the infection rate is! travelling to other parts of the country may help spread the virus. Why is it wrong .
Hi generally winterisation starts when you no longer use your boat Autumn/winter until the spring when you wish to use it again. When is winterisation generally from and to? Isnt it a bit early?

Yes it is a bit early. But better too early than too late .When is winterisation generally from and to? Isnt it a bit early?
I don't do anything to my engines . Just put a tube heater in the engine bay on a thermostat. The boat can be used if wanted...............when you winterise a boat, particularly the engine, is it generally rendered unusable until it is readied for the new season in the spring?
To a degree yes, to use your boat again you will have to "un-winterise" and then after use winterise it again. Best left to spring next year that is if we are out of lock down of course. Thanks Jim, so when you winterise a boat, particularly the engine, is it generally rendered unusable until it is readied for the new season in the spring?
I would cancel the lift out, safer in the water where temperature is concerned, hull is insulated. My boat is due to be lifted Nov 9th and back in 4 weeks later. So now no time for the work to be done.
I’m thinking is it best to cancel or leave her out for longer and take a chance that we don’t have a very cold December.
Covid: The new lockdown rules for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland
- People will be told to stay at home except for education, work (if it can't be done from home), exercise and recreation, medical reasons, shopping for food and other essentials, or to care for others
... recreation is included, whatever that will mean
Stuff like Rydlyme is bio degradeable and therefore, I presume, friendlyish to the enviro.I don't do anything to my engines . Just put a tube heater in the engine bay on a thermostat. The boat can be used if wanted.
Some people pour antifreeze in the raw water side of the cooling system. I presume that is allowed to enter the marine environment when the engine is started (not good).
But I do drain off the domestic water which I consider to be the greater risk of frost damage.

Why is it wrong .
There is no ban on travel , you can work if you can’t work from home , it is work it’s something I have done for the last 20 yrs , but you have sold your boat so have different opinion.Because if everyone decided that what that wanted to do was essential to them. It would not work would it. You know it is wrong which is why you asked the question............ Boats V Peoples lives is simply a no Brainer.
Besides if anyone ever says Well it is essential TO ME....... That be definition means it is most likely not essential
Besides I bought my Sealine s24 on the water in a marina during the beast from the east. I had no chance of winterizing it during the worst of the weather as it was shall we say not mine but I was buying it. That winter was probably the worst we have had in ages...... Guess what it was fine.............. If the weather gets that bad in the UK in November I will eat my Hat........
In my view there are 2 things that you should never be during the current situation....... One is Selfish and the other is Stupid
