When I first came started boating I worried quite a lot about winterising my outboards which are 2 strokes. Now I do nothing to them perhaps put some fuel stabiliser in the petrol tank.

So what do other do to their 2 strokes because I basically think that there us nothing that needs doing.

I’d make sure there’s no fuel sitting in the carb bowl(s), but that’s about all I can think of.

The cooling impeller needs occasional attention, but that’s not exactly winterising as such.

Assuming it is used in salt water a fresh water flush is definitely worth doing.

Run it dry of course.

Empty the fuel tank rather than use stabiliser.

So when emptying this fuel tank where will you put the 60 + ltrs of petrol

I always used the fuel up in the car
Regards the motor
Flush out with fresh water
Fog engine with storage oil
Drain carbs
Change gearbox oil
Grease prop shaft
clean and grease linkages and swivels.
Grease thumbscrews
Spray powerhead with WD40
Touch in paintwork
