Winterisation - newby diesel user

Should I leave my diesel tanks full or empty when she is taken out over the winter?

The accepted wisdom is to leave the tanks full but I have to admit that in nearly 20 yrs of boating, I've never filled up the tanks before winter and never had a problem but, in the last few years, I have been religiously dosing any fuel taken on board with first, Soltron, and lately, Startron, which is fundamentally the same product.
I think it's probably as important to ensure that the engine bay temp is kept above freezing with some kind of heater eg. tubular greenhouse heater and, if you can keep a dehumidifier going on the boat for, say, 2 hrs a day on a timer (v expensive on leccy to run 24hrs a day), and open up the hatches to the engine bay at the same time, so much the better. A dehumidifier will also keep the interior of the boat drier and therefore, you are less likely to develop mould on soft furnishings and window frames

Yes, filling up is the perceived wisdom, which I did yesterday. However, I will not be able to use a heater this winter as she will be on the hard standing, so will need to drain the water system, and get some anti freeze into the legs.
