I have heard folks talking highly of a place called Finika in Turkey (Spelling may not be right), as being a good wintering spot. Seems the airport is near, prices are low and facilities are ok.

Anyone with knowledge about the place, pros, cons and otherwise?

Hi Bob,
We kept our boat there for 2 years and were very pleased with the place. The staff are all very helpful and efficient. We returned to the UK each winter and had the boat hauled out but there are usually 20 or more who live aboard through the winter.
The nearest airport is Antalya which is served by charter flights all year round. There is a very cheap taxi service based at the marina for transfers.
A full range of maintenance services are based there, should they be needed.
The town of Finike is a working agricultural town so stays fully open throughout the year. The locals are friendly and the whole place feels very safe.

I believe Kemer marina has a larger liveaboard population. If you intend to stay aboard for all or most of the winter then you can probably do that for free, by anchoring in the Gocek to Fethiye area, along with a few other yachts doing the same.

Best regards,

Henry

We don't have experience of Finike but can recommend Yacht Marine, Marmaris. We are working on our boat here at the moment. We have not been here for the winter but know a lot of boats who have and they are all very positive. It is an efficient well-run marina. There is a substantial liveaboard community all year round and this increases in the winter. If you need to do any work it's an excellent place. Prices are some of the best in Turkey - far cheaper than Park Kemer. The only problem is the weather! We are back to the Red Sea - Abutig Marina, El Gouna, Egypt - for the winter where we can still sail, snorkel, dive and swim with dolphins.

I can certainly agree with Irony, kept Hannabella there for a few weeks, cheap mooringsand very helpful staff, cant speak for the workmanship as havent tried it yet, only problem with it is its a long way from town, but there is a good Dolmus service runs every 20 mins.
Irony, name seems familiar, I think we saw you there. May have to come back ourselves for work to be done.

Regards

Steve
