It looks like I might be out of a job soon and rather than start work on my CV I've started dreaming about heading south and crewing for a few months over winter.
Before I pay my £60 for 6 months subscription to Crewseekers can anyone tell me where there is likely to be any sailing going on? If so, where are the busy spots? is it all in the Caribbean?. Does all sailing in the Med stop? am I better off looking in the Southern hemisphere?

Has anyone any experience of doing this?

Lots of questions, any advice gratefully received.

Brendan.

If you have the time, put some diesel in the boat, sail down to the canaries. (call in at La Corruna on the way) sail over to the west indies in jan, then up to bermuda in may and azores in june and home or ... in July.

Leisure 27 is bigger than many boats that have already been there.

If you are single handed a good radar, an aerogen 4, ssb transceiver and a couple of tiller pilots will be all you need.

Thanks Richard but that is way too ambitious for me. Do people really sail through the Bay of Biscay at this time of year? The thought of it in a fully crewed boat is scary enough let alone single handed.
But thanks for the suggestion of the West Indies and Bermuda, I will look at those areas.

Brendan.
