It's getting to that time of year again, and my list of projects (both maintenance and improvement) for the winter is quite substantial this year.

So I'm having the boat lifted out a bit earlier than usual so I can hopefully make an early start whilst the weather's still reasonable.
Lift out planned for 6th October, and on the list so far are:-
  • New cutlass bearings all round (stern tube & P bracket, both sides)
  • Replace radar. Remove old KH Kingfisher and fit Furuno 7150
  • Fit new fridge (Isotherm Webasto CR85) remove old 3 way Electrolux thing that keeps trying to kill us when on gas
  • Fit 150w solar panel to sliding sunroof, and MPPT controller to get the best out of it
  • Make & fit binnacle in stbd wheelhouse ceiling to box in wiper motor, demister and alarm siren
  • Remove & reseal port oil cooler to stop that annoying oil leak after I stripped it last season
  • Remove & clean out stbd oil cooler, Seal it properly when refitting!
  • Change stbd engine coolant

What do you have planned?

Nothing as big as your list for us this winter.

New cockpit upholstery
New cockpit table
Lift boat out in January for a couple of months in which time its service the drive, polish, antifoul, fit new decals and names.
Hopefully a new bump strip if we can find the right one!

Change engine from V6 petrol to diesel, bow thruster, rewire, new soft lining, new upholstery, new canopy, new outside seating, new plotter, autopilot and instruments, new teak tables for inside and cockpit,
Carrying on from last winters list, some of above is made and just needs final fit.

Wow, that sounds a bit more than a 5 minute job!

Its been taking up most of my time for the last 12 months since I bought the boat, progress is good, I'm spending far to much money on it but I know what I want to achieve and plan to be on the water next summer. The engine swap was a bit of a last minute addition to the original jobs and once started I knew I would miss this summer but would be worth it in the long term. I'm taking lots of pictures but not had time to post yet.

Well, I'm looking forward to the thread and pics. Sounds great stuff :)

When I see all these winter lists, it makes me feels bad... there's very little needing doing to 'Cranki' (Cranchi Smeraldo 37)

I'm fitting a new TV antenna & cable as I suspect the current one is causing an issue.

After that i'm fecking off on a plane to Asia for the winter... does that count?!

-Edit- Actually i'll change the oil before I take her out in mid November (no point in having dirty oil sit in the sumps all year). Obviously, upon my return in the Spring the engines will get whatever other maintenance needs doing, and the boat will get the usual deep clean, compound&polish etc...

Not much of a list for me this time just antifoul, service the drive and polish . As normal i dread seeing the oil from drive because if it comes out milky then i know i have problems.

We know our oil seals have gone, again. Bloody fishing line through the seals once more.

Boats being lifted just after christmas so just going to leave as is for now.

Choose and find a way of fitting some nice helm seats. Those Stidds look awaful comfy

Got any ideas of manufacturer, Mike
Ours are looking tired and probably need replacing
I fancied the new ones that Lang and Potter are making for Princess but apart from taking some measurements, thats as far as I've got.
No I haven't Mike and I'm looking for ideas too. I want to replace both my lower and upper helm seats. Stidd seem to be universally praised but they're expensive. I've been looking at the Besenzoni range http://www.besenzoni.it/pilot-seats/?lang=en mainly because they supply seats for other Ferrettis but its early days yet in my deliberations

Don't think I want anything too expensive - they are fixed on the FB and always exposed to the elements.
We do have covers but after 6/7 years now they attract mold during the winter months.
The vinyl has started to deteriorate
So I don't want anything that will just need replacing again - unless it is cost effective to do so.
Just done a little browsing - how about something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKIPPER-S...tEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item2a36d80548
I found their company website as well - http://www.pdsupholstery.co.uk/
Seems that some of the staff have come from Sealine after it closed.
Might be worth a call - has anyone had any dealings with them?

These are the ones that I found at Lang and Potter but I think they would be a bit pricey
I like the bolster idea though

Pulling the Stbd shaft to replace the seal and cutlass bearings. Expecting it to be worse than the Port as access to the inner cutlass is virtually non existent, but at least I know the procedure now, and a chance to use the 3/4" socket set I bought after the last shaft repair.

Not for me those. I want a seat with armrests and I don't need a flip up bolster but again thanks for the contact

Just a small but sadly expensive list lol

1, Replace Helm Dual Throttles
2, Replace Cockpit and Swim Platform Teak with Flexiteak
3, Remove existing Davit Arms and Replace with Snap Davits
4, Replace old ST40 instruments x 2 with new I40 instruments
5, Lag Eberspacher Ducting with Multi Foil Insulation
6, install New Lights in Aft Cabin

That's it for now but the list will undoubtedly grow
